     "Nail fungus is not just a cosmetic concern. It can also lead to other skin and nail problems, especially in diabetics," says Dr. Eric Trattner, a podiatrist and foot specialist with more than 25 years of experience.

     "There are a variety of topical over-the-counter and prescription preparations that have proven to be extremely ineffective," Dr. Trattner explains. "The success rate with these methods is only 10-15 percent. Oral medications, while more effective , can be toxic to the liver.  Other treatments often require removal of the affected toenail."

     That's all changed now thanks to a remarkable new non-surgical, non-laser technology called Clearanail, previously only available in Europe. "Since learning about the product several years ago, I have been striving to secure the rights to make it available to my own patients. It's that impressive," he says.

     Clearanail is a new drug-free, pain-free medical procedure for assisting in the treatment of unsightly and embarrassing toenails. The treatment helps to rejuvenate and clear unhealthy-looking toenails by penetrating deep into the nail bed where the actual damage occurs. Depending on the number of toenails affected, the treatment takes less than 30 minutes.

     "Controlled micro-perforations are created in the nail allowing for treatment of the contaminated area, leaving the entire nail intact," Dr. Trattner explains. "There is no pain and only one visit is required. Positive results have been seen as quickly as six to eight weeks."

     Dr. Trattner is currently one of just a few podiatrists in North America to offer this treatment, and the only one in Ohio.
